Troubleshooting Untracked Leads
Learn how to diagnose why a WhatsApp message didn’t appear in your lead log or was not counted as a conversion.
If you’re seeing WhatsApp messages come through but they’re not being tracked, here’s what to check:
❌ Lead Not Logged? Check the Following:
Issue | Cause | Fix |
GCLID missing | Visitor didn’t arrive from a Google Ad | Add ?gclid=test1234 to test manually |
UID missing in message | Custom button missing [UID] placeholder | Use WAConversionTracking button or script properly |
Script not loading | Script not installed or blocked by browser settings | Ensure it’s in <body> and no ad blockers interfere |
Button opens WhatsApp but no send | User clicked but didn’t send the message | No fix needed — we only track messages actually sent |
Wrong WhatsApp number | Number not registered in WAConversionTracking | Update your WhatsApp number in the workflow |
🧪 How to Manually Test
- Visit your landing page with a
?gclid=testgclid123
at the end
- Click your WhatsApp button
- Send the message
- Open your WAConversionTracking dashboard
- Look for a new lead with UID + GCLID + message content
